David Johnson

Chef

David was born in Hyderabad, India. He grew up in his family restaurant which became a part of his foundation, inspired by his mother’s traditional Indian cooking. 

Davids home town had a strong Anglo & Persian influence which helped inspire and influence him in his culinary journey. Mixing Indian flavors and spices with western techniques and ingredients, David developed his own personal and unique style. David studied at sacred heart high school and graduated at Institute of Hotel Management, IHM Hyd in 1996. 

While in India, David worked for Oberoi and Welcome Group of Hotels.

David moved to New York in 1999  and worked at Baluchi's before joining Cafe Mogador in 2007, in 2012 he opened the Brooklyn outpost as executive chef, where David established a loyal following. Over the Years it became a neighborhood institution and culinary destination with rave reviews. David went on to work for Amy Chaplin, Meir Adoni at Nur and Neil Harden at Jean-Georges abcV.
